South African alternative rock band Southern Wild have released “Right On Time”, a deeply personal single exploring marriage, love and the fleeting nature of time. The track features on their forthcoming album “The Art Of Feeling Nothing”, due for release on 30 October 2026 via Just Music.
At its heart, “Right On Time” reflects on the complexities of sharing a life with another person while recognising that even the closest relationships involve two individuals with different perspectives and experiences. For vocalist Dave van Vuuren, understanding those differences is an essential part of building a meaningful connection.
“It’s about the little disagreements, the almost otherworldly moments you share, but also the fact that you’re still two individuals living separate lives,” explains van Vuuren. “You experience things differently, and there’s something beautiful in wanting to see what the other person sees.”
The song also considers how perspectives on love and relationships evolve with age. Watching people lose the partners with whom they have shared their lives brings the inevitability of mortality into focus, highlighting that even the strongest relationships cannot guarantee a lifetime together.
“I think that makes it even more important to be present, to understand each other, and to love each other as selflessly as we can while we have the chance,” says van Vuuren.
With “Right On Time”, Southern Wild transform personal reflections into a broader meditation on the human experience. The song encourages listeners to look beyond everyday frustrations, appreciate the moments that make each relationship distinctive and recognise the importance of the people who share their lives.
The single offers a further glimpse into “The Art Of Feeling Nothing”, an album that sees Southern Wild continue to explore the complexities of human emotion through their alternative rock sound. The record is scheduled for release on 30 October 2026 through Just Music.
